It is important to recognize as you look out a your class full of eager exercisers that they all come from varied fitness levels, skills sets and abilities. Each participant has a specific personal reason that has lead them to your class that day. Keep this in mind when someone modifies an exercise, chooses to opt out of part of a class or even arrives a few minutes late (sometimes the biggest challenge is walking through the door!)
Although we workout as a group, understand that each participant has an individual goal, need or objective for the time they have dedicated to your class. It is the instructors job to make sure everyone is safe and having fun... if that means someone is "dancing to their own beat" that might be ok as long as they are still sweating!
Let's make sure that this quote by the author of the above article is the minority not the majority for newcomers to our classes... "I was so intimidated by my first Zumba class that I didn’t go back to one for two months!"
