President of the association, Alyette Keldie has a vision, “This program was created to support the GX Industry by offering an opportunity for recognition and career development. This is one way we plan to make a significant impact in the coming years on professionalism of instructors.”
“Group Instructors have been relentless servants to the public to make them feel better physically and emotionally and I think it’s more than the appropriate time to give back to them,” says product manager,

High-intensity interval training (HIIT) has been a buzzword in the fitness industry in the last decade.
HIIT and high-volume interval training (HVIT) are very common programs you will find in numerous gyms across the globe because they have proven to be one of the most efficient ways for an individual to achieve greater results in less time compared to lower intensity workouts.
That said, it has also led to an increase in injuries for many participants. Fabio Comana, an exercise physiologist and instructor at University of California San Diego, and a well-known leader in the fitness industry, has expressed concerns regarding the 4 percent increase in injuries related to overuse or chronic exercise in the last 10 years.
Therefore, we must learn how to enhance our athletic performance while keeping risk for injury low. It is important to recognize the growing need for medical fitness and training methods that support it.
Variable-intensity interval training (VIIT) method: This is one of the newest and safest ways to achieve maximum results in less time!

"The class started for me when I opened the front door. Within the first 90 seconds, these were some of the business practices that I began to evaluate and subsequently worry about for my own future studio:
"Call to action for all of the mangers out there reading this post. I challenge you to audit a class this week, preferably one at your own facility but any class will do. Here's the catch: Evaluate the operation as if you personally have $150,000 riding on your ability to analyze, replicate and improve upon the experience. You need to be honest with yourself and your ability to motivate and lead a team of part-time employees to see and implement your vision. It's not as easy as it sounds, but give it a try. Maybe your observations can help me find some things I missed."

2X - Yep the power of the compound exercise!
Why do one when you can double the fun!?!
Seriously though... everyone is looking for a faster more effective workout and with compound exercises you get just that.
Make any old basic Bicep Curl or Lunge a total body move by adding another muscle group.
Squat 2X = Squat/Overhead Press
Lunge 2X = Lunge/Bicep Curl
You can also make moves 2X by adding a balance component.
Tricep Press 2X = Tricep Press/One Leg Balance Leg Extension
Split Stance One Arm Row 2X = One Arm Row/Hamstring Curl
Another benefit of the compound exercise is it's ability to raise the heart rate without bouncing or putting great impact on the body.
So get to it and check out the video above which demonstrates some very effective compound Arms/Abs exercises thanks to the Live Fit Girls!

It is important to recognize as you look out a your class full of eager exercisers that they all come from varied fitness levels, skills sets and abilities. Each participant has a specific personal reason that has lead them to your class that day. Keep this in mind when someone modifies an exercise, chooses to opt out of part of a class or even arrives a few minutes late (sometimes the biggest challenge is walking through the door!)
Although we workout as a group, understand that each participant has an individual goal, need or objective for the time they have dedicated to your class. It is the instructors job to make sure everyone is safe and having fun... if that means someone is "dancing to their own beat" that might be ok as long as they are still sweating!
Let's make sure that this quote by the author of the above article is the minority not the majority for newcomers to our classes... "I was so intimidated by my first Zumba class that I didn’t go back to one for two months!"
